A Taste of Summer - Rose Garden Quilt Kits
For those of us in the frosty north, the Rose Garden quilt kit evokes images of a late summer garden filled with blooming roses and trees ladened with ripening fruit. The colours are cheery without being too bright. And while florals definitely give off that summer-time vibe, this quilt would look lovely in your home any time of the year!
The Rose Garden Fabrics
Have I mentioned before that Meg and I are Bonnie Christine fan girls? Well, if I haven't (hehe, I know I have mentioned it), this quilt would be sufficient proof. ALL of the prints are by Bonnie Christine!
There's a bold, gold floral, a soft watercolour rose, a dainty green print, and of course that gorgeous plummy binding! I don't normally like a darker binding because I find it can be distracting, but in this case, it feels more like it just perfectly frames the quilt. The kit also features a couple of solid fabrics, the terra cotta and the cream background. This just helps to create balance so that the quilt isn't too busy.
We haven't had our throw version quilted yet because we wanted to use the same backing that we used on the baby version (Primrose Minnow, see below), which is also a Bonnie Christine print! We tried to find another backing but this one was too perfect. Nothing else had the right vibe. We'll be ordering more of it so that you can back your Rose Garden quilt with it too, if you'd like!
The Pattern - Laura's 4-Patch
The Laura's 4-Patch Quilt Pattern is a fun spin on the classic 4-patch. It's perfect for the Advanced Beginner. It uses traditional patchwork techniques and goes together quickly. The pattern includes thorough instructions, including instructions on how to nest your seams. This pattern is a customer favourite! It's received rave reviews from those who've made it.
