All you’ll need is a comfortable boho chic fabric like flannel or batik, a sewing machine, and thread. The fabric should be long enough to wrap twice around your neck in a classic infinity scarf style. You’ll lay the right sides down together and sew along the long sides, then pin the right sides of the ends together. Sew those ends together, turn the seam inside the scarf, and sew the opening shut. While you can do most of this project on a sewing machine, it’s easier to hand sew the opening shut at the end.
Checkered Rag Quilt
If boho chic isn’t just your personal style, but the style of your home, then you should make this checkered rag quilt. You’ll need three fabrics of your choice, although the quilt will look best with a darker color, a medium color, and a lighter color. You can use prints if you want, but solid colors will look better. To start, you’ll cut out 32 dark squares, 48 medium squares, and 18 light squares. Make sure they’re all the same size before pairing them up with another square of the same color.
Sew them together from corner to corner then lay them out in the checkered pattern of your choice. Many people like to create a buffalo check pattern, which is four squares: one dark on the top left, one medium on the top right, one medium on the bottom left, and one light on the bottom right.
Sew your squares together with a 5/8th seam allowance between them. Topstich all four sides of the quilt and leave a 5/8th seam allowance there as well. Snip all the seams between 1/4 and 1/2 inch apart to create the ragged boho chic look.
Fringe Bed Skirt
To complete the boho chick look in your bedroom, you can make a fringed bed skirt. You’ll need a fabric that drapes well, your choice of fringe trim, sticky back Velcro for easy removal, pins, thread, and a sewing machine. Measure the length of the bed sides and the distance from the bed frame to the floor to determine the amount of fabric you need. Iron a half inch of your fabric edges and then fold it over another half inch, ironing again to make a hem. Pin the hem down, sew it together, and then pin and stitch your fringe. Press the fuzzy ends of the Velcro onto your bed skirt and attach the pokey sides in the same spots on your box spring. This will keep your new boho chic bed skirt in place.
